Back to surgery again, this time to reconnect my gi tract.  My small bowel was attached directly to my esophagus after they determined that both had good flow and no more necrosis had occurred.  I was again returned to the ICU.

At this point I was still in a medically induced coma with support of a ventilator.  I had a whole team of physicians at this point the were advising my husband so that he was able to make the best decisions for me.  This is something we had talked about quite a bit actually, but I do not think you can ever be fully prepared to make the decisions when it is actually happening and all of the emotions are involved.

At this point he was staying with me pretty much 24/7 and sleeping in a chair or in the car so he could be right there.
